A note from Alain
I really like the versatility of the collar. It perfectly blends in in a suit or in any jacket but can also be worn open and very open like a shark collar. I love the fact that the collar is very light and I personally recommend the use of collar stays when worn with a tie.- Avoid dry cleaning: it can halve a shirt lifetime.
- Prefer machine wash at 30°C to 40°C. Go up to 60°C if really needed (white only). No bleach please. Wash similar colors together.
- Prefer natural drying (on a hanger), avoid tumble dry. This will preserve fibres and ensure your garment lasts longer.
- Medium iron, medium to little steam. Choose cotton program if you have one.

A story about heritage
When thinking about naming things, there sometimes are names that are so obvious that they naturally come to light. BAUHAUS 01 was one such obvious name.
Sure, invoking a monument of the 20th century comes with a lot of baggage. This famous school and the ensuing Bauhaus movement spread through the world of art during the twenties and early thirties and still inspire generations of designers today.
The homage was natural for us since the pursuit of pure geometrical shapes is both at the core of the movement and of our approach to design.
For the mathematicians out there, it could be argued this is almost a squared homage. The Bauhaus approach can indeed be summarized as the willingness to reconcile a durable and artistic industrial vision with an aesthetic that is both functional and most of all useful.
We feel this would not describe better what we try to achieve at GOSSUIN: focused creative essentials, accessible and manufactured to last.
An edgy homage
The pointy collar is truly the centerpiece of what makes this shirt a truly Bauhaus shirt. Collars of the twenties were characterized by fairly large points and generous curves. The point was also going down by a significant amount on the body of the shirt and its length was much larger than that of current 2021 taste.
It's precisely with these elements in mind that we tried to create a collar that would constitute a modern take on the collar of the 20s. We especially wanted to preserve the curves and points without it being eccentric which is why we limited the point to 7cm.
The collar of the 20s by GOSSUIN, the 2020s that is, was born.
Fabrics that work
We wanted to push the homage down to the kind of fabrics we offer for the shirt. Style wise, the 20s were marked by a certain amount of austerity due to the post-WW1 context. Fabrics were often sturdy and colors revolved around whites, light blues and discreet stripes. As people were mostly working in shirts, the fabrics had to be practical and easy.
To that end, we opted for light Oxford fabrics with a thread count that is not too high and a very nice dark blue and white striped poplin. As per usual, we wanted fabrics to be easy to wear and care. They are slightly lighter than fabrics on REVERSO and ALPHA.
Year responsibly.
It took many people to bring BAUHAUS 01 to the world. This section is dedicated to them.
